October 4, 2026 · Historical restriction register
A separate source-reviewed layer: one 2024 district baseline plus six enacted state laws and nine district policy packages after 2024. This is the complete verified in-scope register for the release, not a national total or a claim that no other policy exists. Three active proposals and four unresolved historical cases are disclosed separately. Adoption, announcement, legal effective dates and implementation remain distinct; California’s take-home rule uses an official post-enactment summary because the chaptered text was not retrieved.

October 3, 2026 · Learning release
Added 29 official-source policy actions, bringing the published collection to 213 records. Added a ten-state support register, grade-specific learning briefs, three-state comparisons and an original study connecting policy to learning and student agency.
- Distinguished student instruction, course availability, learning opportunities, standards and future graduation requirements.
- Rechecked Nebraska’s current K–12 instruction and later graduation credit; North Carolina’s future AI standards and covered CS courses; North Dakota’s graduation alternatives; and New York City’s high-school AI modules.
- Separated documented grants, free support and authorized programs from unverified current funding or classroom delivery.
- Removed district identifiers incorrectly attached to statewide records.
The device audit remains at 51 findings: 28 operative texts, 15 official summaries and eight unresolved. These additions do not establish an exhaustive nationwide learning-policy census or verified classroom outcomes.

October 3, 2026 · Device release
Added 51 jurisdiction findings, grade-specific comparisons, printable briefs and an original national research note. The new audit is a separate analytical layer linked to the existing 184 policy records; those counts describe different units.
Review breakdown: 28 operative texts, 15 official summaries, eight unresolved findings. No independent review has been completed.
- Corrected New Mexico’s classification to a local-policy requirement.
- Corrected North Dakota’s summary to reflect the official full-day description.
- Clarified New Jersey’s nonacademic full-day restriction and academic exceptions.
- Clarified Oregon’s start-to-end scope and Ohio’s January 1, 2026 policy deadline.
- Added DC’s on-person possession distinction and improved source locators for Iowa, Arizona, New Hampshire and Washington.
- Preserved future deadlines and unresolved findings rather than filling gaps with assumptions.
October 3, 2026 · Previous baseline
Preserves the preceding 184-record dataset before the device-release corrections. It is retained for reproducibility and contains findings superseded by the newer release.
Editorial and update process
Reviews distinguish operative text, official summaries and unresolved evidence. AI-assisted research receives a same-agent consistency check; this is not described as independent or human verification. Source access dates do not prove that no later authority exists.
Changes should record the affected jurisdiction, source, prior interpretation, revised finding and review date. Policy changes and research corrections are different events. This archive is maintained through published releases; no automatic monitoring or monthly update schedule is currently claimed.
